It's been a long time ("since I rock and rolled") since I last blogged, mostly because life suddenly happened all at once, leaving me to stagger and stutter because I simply cannot make decisions. These past few days I slept very little. How little? I was genuinely really excited when I realized I had slept a total of 5 hours straight last night, because it had been the first time in DAYS. There was also my huge last paper for Methods that included the use of statistics, which instantly means I'm going to wait until the last minute to do it, then panic, then finish with a conclusive "I. Don't.Care." which is highly unbeneficial in regards to a required class.
But now it's done.
huzzah!
I really have nothing to write about. I'm unexcited to return home for two weeks of being around family.
So, here's a list of the GOOD things about Christmas break, in no particular order:
1. Christmas parties: sleeping on a friend's floor in an awkward sweater, in a state of post-christmas caroling/ wine/ cookie bliss. That's pretty good.
2. Having Christmas/ Hanukkah themed cookies and movies for December(and maybe January)
3. Sleeping in. All of the time. Yes.
4. Feeling twice as good about yourself when you work out. I mean, who works out over the holidays?
5. umm...scarves. Yes, scarves make winter better in general.
...
yeah, that might be about it, for the general public....
oh, also snow makes winter better in general too.
Even with all of the music and lights, Christmas can't hold up to Halloween as well, but that's ok, because without it, winter would be boring.

Why I Can't Go Into Communications (no offense to all those com majors out there!)
So, upon realizing that my archeology class is my favorite class EVER (after philosophy of science and possibly Anthro 111), I also realize that truly, I KNOW NOTHING. Not only is this because I spend my waking hours watching youtube videos of surprised kittens and men that can sing like women, but also because I trusted The History Channel for the first 18ish years of my life.
My initial disillusionment began with the appearance of shows like "Ice Road Truckers" and "Axe Men" and "Poorly Written Documentaries of UFO and Sasquatch Conspiracies Which Include People Saying 'I Seen It'" and finally "Poorly Translated Qoutes from People Who Claim to be Historians/ Anthropologists/ Experts in WTF?". But finally, with seeing shows that claim that the pyramids of Egypt were actually mathematically placed to warn us of 9/11, I can finally say: "F#%@ you History Channel and your 'merica! as well!!".
That's right, I went there. Put that in your pipe in smoke it, Overly Patriotic Dimwits. (Imagine all that in a British accent, it's acually hilarious).
Really, all of these "education" journalism channels are just spewing as much shiza as believable to the truly naive to make a few extra bucks. If you follow this blog more, you'll most likely find our about my opinion on how Capitalism has affected our culture and ideals until truly, we become pessimistic little money shells that don't believe in magic in the world beyond that of sparkling vampires who lack a personality, [and that's only for the teenagers/ppl that have a problem with sexuality anything in American literature today(once again another topic I will inevitably get to)].
I've decided I'm now going to spend my usual Project Runway time in quiet contemplation of how much is wrong with our culture until I am successfully hippy and 'passionate' enough to have an actually thought-out opinion instead of just disliking Westernization without a real argument. Also, because I think there is so much wrong, this will take awhile. Also, because of my minor Anthropology training, I think that there really isn't any such thing as right or wrong, only culturally significant differences in values, to be wieghted only by society and even individuals w/in said society to fir thier own needs and to get by with generally socially acceptable means. This said, there I will probably just think myself into a little 'Nothing/ Everything is relevant" corner until I'm drooling and have gone into emergency shutdown mode in which I will make myself more Mac'n'Cheese and watch more Family Guy, just like last time.
Or maybe I'll just go read Harry Potter.

Back home for the holiday(s)
So, I'm basically only blogging to myself, but I'm not-shockingly ok with that (love ya Kristina, my only follow!). But by posting these things about myself in the blogosphere, I feel like I'm obligating myself to be interesting.
For example, here I am back in my hometown for the week, and I've already made human-contact with an old friend from High School. Look mom, I'm being social! :)
I also went through a bunch of my old books in the attic and pulled out a bunch of old favorites to take back to school, because I'm so friggin tired of Stephen King. Don't ask me how that happens, but I think one can only take so much foreshadowing (a literary devise that I think many delusional writers believe has unlimited uses, but they are sick and WRONG).
I also noticed that this is the perfect opportunity for me to actually do some lit research for my next anthro project (though I still have no idea what I'm doing), and, more to the point, get healthier. Oh, posh that it's the week of Thanksgiving; the next few days of fasting and yoga will only make that traditional binge that much sweeter (and less likely to occur). Since I really have until Saturday for the feast (family scheduling is making turkey day itself just 'indulge in the store sales and the parade' day), I can stretch around with lemon juice for DAYS to trim my college food-ruined bod.
That's right, I just used the word 'bod'. Like a guy named 'Chad' or 'Guy', or even 'Tod'. Want my bod?...eeek.
Anyways, yay for constant history channel and stress-reducing sleep-aids!!1
hmmm, ever wonder about thanksgiving food? Like, I don't particularly like turkey (or tofurky, *shudder*), except that it smells awesome in the 8-10 million hours it takes to cook, and I really don't like gravy. Smashed potatos can be ok, or really gross (yes, it is veryveryvery possible to mess up potatoe-anything , just ask my family). After that, I might as well live off of olives and sparkiling cider the entire day...oh wait I already do....mmm, yummy....

okokok, so blogpost idea...
Just thinking about my favorite authors and I realize that they are all very depressing in some way... I mean, why on Earth would someone read Steinbeck for kicks and giggles? Anyways, so he's one of them. Also Chuck Palahniuk...I started reading one if his books today because the unedited version of 'The Stand' got to be too depressing (note: do NOT read this in the middle of a flu epidemic, like NOW...it definitely makes you more paranoid than any local news station ever could). Anyways again, the book is called 'Lullaby' and it's basically about dead babies...well and a journalist...and a bunch of hippies. You can definitely tell that Palahniuk lived in Oregon for awhile, lol. Most of his books will mention something about how the corporate machine is ruining humanity, nihilism this, narcisism that, blahblahblah....Still less scary than King, for sure.
I should really finish The Dark Tower series. It's King's best work by far, and I got all the to half-way through the last book (7 in all, in case you're interested), and just never finished it.
I also recommend T.S. Elliot for any rainy day (which there have been a lot of lately).
hmmm.
They're also all men. My favorite authors I mean. At least all of the ones I can think of right now...
What I really like in a book is a good anti-hero. King and Palahniuk are masters with these (those many people will argue on that), like any good spagetti-western (even though I don't like John Wayne for that matter). I don't really know where I'm going with this, but the point is I'm learning to sew this next break and I still don't know if I'll ever really become fluent in the French language, but I'm really excited to learn Wolof! Nanga def? (Maangi fi rek!)

Boredom manifesting into internet information clogging....
So, I've been wanting to create a blog for awhile and I promise to have an actual focus eventually, but for now I'm just going to express my excitement for having something to do! Here at college, you expect to have more to do...unfortunately, when you have no money, no homework and chose the most out of the way town to live in, there's NOTHING to do but sit and watch life happen. For now, I will only point out that life is harder when there's nothing to do than too much to do...just try and get out of bed in the morning when there's nothing to look forward to but go on facebook to chat with friends that have better things to do.
I promise, I do have a life...it only requires money and travel...neither of which I have anymore. Perhaps this blog will be about my journey to finding more stuff to do on campus (join clubs? Out of date political parties?...). Hey, I'll even take some (polite) suggestions for things to do: my classes are too easy, my friends are generally too busy, and I'm boring.
